REGINA - SaskEnergy is warning Regina residents not to be alarmed if they see a giant flame in the air.
The Crown gas company says the controlled burn Wednesday will clear gas out of a pipeline stretching to a new subdivision being built by the airport. The flaring will allow for pipeline upgrades before homes are built.
SaskEnergy says eight major oil and gas pipelines run through the subdivision but this is the only one that requires safety improvements.
About $10,000 worth of natural gas will be burned off and another $70,000 will be spent on the pipeline upgrade.
SaskEnergy says the land developer will foot the entire bill.
The flaring will start at sunrise and will end by 9 a.m.
