SYDNEY, B.C. - Vancouver Island RCMP say alcohol may be a factor in the grounding of a pleasure boat that caused minor injuries to six people.

Police say the boat hit the rocks near Sidney outside Victoria last night.

Two passengers were ejected on impact.

Officers from two police departments, the Coast Guard and a fire department participated in the rescue.

The 44-year-old driver and an 11-year-old boy were uninjured in the incident.

The rest were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
