PENTICTON, B.C. - Investigators say a helicopter that crashed near Terrace was moving drilling equipment for a mineral exploration project.

Bill Yearwood of the Transportation Safety Board says the senior pilot had made two successful lifts yesterday with a long line and hook, but something went wrong toward the end of the third lift.

The man is now in a Vancouver hospital with serious injuries.

The wreckage of the Bell Long Ranger is still hanging from a steep slope and Yearwood says investigators won't examine the helicopter in detail until it's moved.

Yearwood says weather was not a factor in the accident.

Last Wednesday, a crash near Alice Arm, north of Prince Rupert, killed four people who were also working on a mineral exploration project.
