MINDEN, Ont. - Sixteen people have been taken to hospital after a tour bus full of boy scouts from England collided with a truck in the village of Norland, Ont., Thursday afternoon.
Provincial police say a northbound tractor trailer entered the southbound lane around 1:20 p.m., colliding with the bus and pushing it onto its side in the ditch.
The driver of the bus, 14 of its passengers and the driver of the truck were all transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say 36 passengers were on the tour bus, ranging in age from 14 to 21.
The bus was on its way from Toronto to Haliburton.
The crash was expected to keep a stretch of Highway 35 closed for almost 10 hours while police investigate whether speed or weather were factors in the crash.
Police say British authorities have been notified.
