BANFF, Alta. - A Calgary climber is recovering from serious injuries after tumbling down a mountain in Banff National Park.

Park wardens say the man fell about 100 metres Monday on Mount Bell.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to hospital in Calgary where he is listed in critical condition.

Wardens are crediting his climbing partner with helping in the rescue by taking more than an hour to climb down the mountain to set up an emergency locator beacon.

In a separate rescue on Monday, park staff assisted three climbers who called for help after one of them injured his hand under a boulder on Mount Temple. (CHQR)
