Are oil companies finally feeling a tad guilty about the price they're charging at the pumps? The price of a litre of gas in Prince George dropped by three cents on Friday -- the start of a holiday weekend. Drivers have come to expect the price of gas to rise as holiday weekends approach. Why the switch this time? Before you start thinking the oil companies have gone all warm and fuzzy, the drop in the price in Prince George is actually about a week late. Prices dipped across the country last week -- by as much as 7.8 cents in Halifax. It's in response to the 15-per-cent drop in the price of crude oil since July 11. At 136.9 cents a litre, gas in Prince George is still about seven cents higher than the national average. So save your thank-yous. -- Editor Dave Paulson
