I am looking for suggestions to cut heating costs this winter. If only there was a way to bottle some of this wonderful heat to save for cold winter days.
I'm getting my furnace cleaned, replacing the filter, have insulated my hot water tank, turned the hot water down a few degrees. This winter I'll lower my thermostat and wear sweaters. I run my dryer at night.
A friend said she disconnects her dryer vent in winter, covers the hose with a nylon and therefore disperses that heat into the house instead of it going outside. I will also make a more concerted effort to turn off extra lights and turn the computer off when not in use. I'd love to hear more reader comments and suggestions to cut costs. If we all do this maybe Terasen Gas will feel it and decide increases are not helping their profit line.

I shut my gas off in may and turn it back on in oct. I plug every hole and weatherstrip anything to seal the outside cold out. heat loss from windows is a major thing so in the winter I make sure all windows seal well or covered in plastic and not opened till spring.
