More than $65 million was spent on bingo, slots and table games in Prince George during the last fiscal year, according to a report from the B.C. Lottery Corporation. The report, for the 2007-08 fiscal year ending March 31, says Treasure Cove Casino generated $51.3 million in revenue, while Chances Good Time Prince George, and its predecessor, Good Time Bingo, were good for $15.1 million, adding up to $65.4 million. The total is a new unprecedented high, up 8.1 per cent from $60.5 million in 2006-07. Adding more slot machines to the casino and opening the gaming centre appeared to have paid off. The casino's 550 slot machines yielded $47.2 million, up from $43.7 million over the 400 slot machines that were in place for 2006-07. Another $4.1 million was reaped by the casino's 10 gaming tables, well up from $2.6 million the previous year. As for the bingo hall and gaming centre, $15.1 million was brought in, compared to $14.2 million in 2006-07. Bingo was good for $14.9 million of the total while the 79 slot machines that came with the new gaming centre when it opened in March attracted $125,075. City hall was one of the big winners. As a host municipality, it received $3.03 million as its share of revenue, up from $2.9 million the year before. Revenues have been on the rise over the years. Over 2005-06, $55.7 million was generated -- $40.7 million by the casino and $15 million by the bingo hall. In 2004-05, the total was $47 million -- $32.1 from the casino and $14.9 million from the bingo hall. And in 2003-04, the last full fiscal year for Casino Hollywood, the total was $38.7 million -- $27.2 million for the casino and $11.5 million for Good Time Bingo. River Rock Casino was the top dog among the 20 casinos in the province. Its 901 slots and 108 tables brought in $233 million. Treasure Cove was the eighth largest revenue earner. Among the 27 gaming centres, where bingo is the predominant game, Prince George's facilities were the sixth greatest earner, with Chances Kelowna on top at $27 million. Exactly how much money BCLC cleared at each operation once expenses are accounted for was not included in the report. However, net income from casinos added up to $761.8 million -- up from $698.6 the previous year -- while bingo contributed a further $63.2 million -- well up from $36.7 the year before -- for a total of $1.1 billion.
