TORONTO - Almost 2,400 homes and businesses in eastern Ontario are without electricity.

Most of the outages, affecting almost 1,600 customers, are south of Ottawa in Osgoode, Russell, Finch, Winchester and Cumberland.

The Hydro One website says the power went off at about 4:40 a.m. and is not expected to be restored until about 10 a.m.

Another 800 customers are also affected southeast of Ottawa in West Hawkesbury, North Plantagenet, L'Original, Alfred.

Their power is expected to be back on line before 8 a.m.

There's no word yet on the cause of the outages, but there has been stormy weather in the region.
