FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Weyerhaeuser Co. said Tuesday it will permanently close its idled oriented stand board mill in Drayton Valley, Alta.
The mill, which has not been in operation since December 2007, had employed about 130 people.
The company said some of the workers have moved to other Weyerhaeuser operations, including the company's softwood lumber sawmill on the same site, while others received severance.
Weyerhaeuser blamed the decline in the U.S. housing market and the high Canadian dollar for the decision.
