LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles prosecutors say they won't file criminal charges against the medical staff of a hospital where a woman died after being ignored while screaming in pain.
A newly issued report says there isn't enough evidence to charge a nurse and other staff at the former Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew Medical Center.
Edith Rodriguez died of a perforated bowel on May 9, 2007, after writhing in pain on the emergency room floor for 45 minutes.
The hospital was closed except for outpatient care last year after its federal funding was revoked because of lapses in care.
It has been renamed King-Harbor.
