TORONTO - The mother of a Toronto man shot dead while sitting in an SUV last month made a tearful plea Tuesday for someone to come forward with information about the murder of her son.

Oliver Martin and his friend Dylan Ellis were shot and killed in their black Range Rover on June 13 after watching a basketball game at a friend's house.

"Oliver was strapped in his seat and shot," Susan Martin said. "He never had a chance, nor did Dylan."

In a video posted on YouTube, Martin says she believes someone in the neighbourhood where the two 25-year-olds were shot knows the killer's name, and she wants them to come forward.

"There's somebody knows," Martin said.

She also called for criminals to "throw away" their guns.

The two were "victims of a murderer who clearly knew how to shoot to kill and did so in a most cowardly fashion," said Allan Dudeck, Oliver Martin's stepfather.

Police have said the victims did not know their attacker, but that a simple look or comment from one of the men may have provoked the shooting.

Police have only one possible suspect, a man who was seen riding away from the murder scene on a bike.
