TORONTO - The Ontario Human Rights Commission released a report today aimed at bringing attention to the discrimination faced by the province's housing tenants.

The "Right at Home" report outlines 37 recommendations for various levels of government and decision makers to help prevent discrimination by landlords.

Chief Commissioner Barbara Hall says adequate housing is crucial to a person's quality of life.

The commission conducted interviews with tenants across the province and found a variety of reasons for discrimination in rental housing, including race, poverty and mental illness.

Hall says although a national housing strategy is needed, all levels of society need to take meaningful steps now.
