The BX Pub Bandits picked a great time to hand the Shooters Pub Devils their first loss of the year. Monday night at Kin 1, the Bandits defeated the Devils 16-10 in Game 1 of the Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association playoff championship series. Damon Calfa, with five goals, was the hottest of the BX shooters. Jeff Moleski added three goals and five assists for the winners. Mike Engbrecht scored two goals, while singles came from Mitch Marsolais, Mike Quarin, Brett Doig, Matt Rochon, David Jones and Doug Schoenville. For Shooters, Scott Anderson was the big man on offence with four goals and four helpers. Blake McIntosh added three goals. Jerome LaMarre, Dave Bennett and Phil Michel also scored for the Devils, the regular-season champions and defending playoff champions. Brent King and Tyler Gould combined to make 36 saves in the BX net. Steven Brizan and Chris Scott shared the ball-stopping duties for the Devils and blocked 38 shots. The Bandits led 6-5 after the first period and 11-8 after two. Game 2 of the series will be played Wednesday at 8 p.m. back at Kin 1. Game 3 will go the next night.
