We are writing about our concern for dog abuse in puppy mills.
We think puppy mills are wrong because if puppies are in small spaces, they can get scared and may get aggressive. After a while, they might be frightened to be around people.
Nobody would want a dog that is afraid of people. The dogs that are born or giving birth at the puppy mills aren't getting fed properly, and dogs are weak and aren't able to do things healthy dogs are able to do.
If we don't take action, more dogs will have to be put down every day.
The people who are working at puppy mills aren't paying good attention to the dogs, and the only reason the people are working is because of their good pay. They will do anything, even if it's harming animals, just for money. We have to remember that dogs are living things, too. We think that they should be shut down and turned into animal shelters.

What will help get rid of these horrible places is awareness. Thank you for speaking out!

Reading letters like these from a group of kids gives me a hope that a generation of adults with empathy towards animals will come out of it. Got my fingers crossed. These kids RULE!

Kids3, that is a very good question and anyone buying a dog from a pet shop should ask that question. A reputable breeder would leave contact information. I am a breeder and anyone showing up about buying a dog of mine is interviewed carefully. It's not first come, first served and I have had some very angry people leave my place because I refused to sell them a puppy. Thankfully, my dogs are almost exclusively sold to friends of people who have one of my dogs. I hate pet shops selling puppies as anyone with the money in his pocket can buy one and I think many pet shop purchases are impulse buys. Getting a dog should be a well thought out, researched purchase as it is (or should be) a long term commitment.
