Still questions surrounding UNBC president Print E-mail

UNBC seems to be getting a deal on its latest president.
As stated in a Citizen story Saturday, Dr. Charles Jago, UNBC interim president and vice chancellor, will earn about $2,000 less per month than former president Dr. Don Cozzetto.
While $2,000 per month is a living wage for some people, it's only the difference in this case between Jago's $21,667 per month (minus required deductions) and Cozzetto's $23,805.
While both fall under the nice-work-if-you-can-get-it category, it's surprising Jago's price tag is lower, given he has about eight years more experience as a university president. But we're sure the taxpayers, who recently put up more than $492,000 for Cozzetto's going away party, appreciate the discount.
We are still curious, however, as to why Cozzetto really left less than two years into a five-year deal, and why it was struck so quickly and easily.
Was Cozzetto doing such a poor job that they just wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible? Or did he know something that they didn't want him talking about?
These are questions we are still trying to answer.
