VICTORIA - A 23-year-old man is in police custody in connection with an incident that left his seven-week-old child in intensive care with undisclosed injuries.

There are few details available but Saanich police say they got involved after a tip from the B.C. Ministry of Children and Families.

Officers met the infant's parents at the hospital on Thursday and took them in for questioning.

Police are holding the father, who could not be named as an assault charge was not yet sworn Saturday night.

The boy's 22-year-old mother was released. (CFAX)
