CALGARY - WestJet Airlines Ltd. (TSX:WJA) has reported a 3.2-percentage-point drop in its September load factor - the proportion of seats filled - to 75.5 per cent.
The year-over-year decline in load factor came as the airline increased its capacity by 15.8 per cent to a fleet of 76 Boeing 737s.
Revenue passenger miles were up 11 per cent to 1.07 billion as the number of travellers carried grew by almost 47,000 compared with September 2007.
"It is very encouraging to see a continually increasing number of guests flying with us, indicating we are on track with our strategic objectives," CEO Sean Durfy stated Friday.
However, Durfy noted: "Revenue per available seat mile for the third quarter showed a slight decline year-over-year."
