CALGARY - There will be an immediate review of two seriously ill babies who are being cared for in a Calgary hospital after being brought in from Lethbridge.
Health Minister Ron Liepert says the investigation will be headed by the University of Calgary's Dr. Tom Louie - an expert in infectious diseases.
But Liepert stresses there is no indication at this point that there is any risk to other children in the Lethbridge area.
Liepert says the review is a precautionary move.
The children are suffering from a skin condition that causes tissue to die but they don't have flesh-eating disease.
It's not known what made the babies sick.
