TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's official IRNA news agency reports that Iran's hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed a temporary replacement for outgoing Interior Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi.
IRNA says the president has appointed Mahdi Hashemi as caretaker interior minister.
Iranian media in recent weeks has reported that Ahmadinejad decided to replace Pourmohammadi because he didn't follow orders and reported on government election violations to Iran's top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei without the president's knowledge.
