Its National Police Week - so what? Well, all cop jokes aside, I for one, want to offer my salute to our RCMP members locally, provincially and nationally along with all law-enforcement folks across our country. I have the good fortune to work alongside a number of RCMP members who volunteer in a major fundraising event in northern B.C. Sometimes I get to mingle with them in their off-the-job mode. Every now and then I get a glimpse of the incredible demands placed on our police force - many of these as a result of our expectations of their performance. They are definitely under-appreciated and over-criticized. Specifically, I offer my thanks to Supt. Dahl Chambers and the members from the Prince George city detachment as well as Chief Supt. Barry Clark and the members throughout North District. As volunteers, they are exemplary in their commitment, reliability and the positive attitude they bring to their assignments. As police officers, its clear they take their responsibilities seriously and appear ready to go the extra mile. Actually, its unfortunate that we have only one week in the year to recognize and honor our police. -- Dennis Nore Prince George
