The College of New Caledonia will host more than 800 delegates from across Canada and throughout the world at the Association of Canadian Community Colleges annual conference next week. The May 25 to 27 conference in downtown Prince George, themed Forests of Change, will focus on addressing the pan-Canadian skill shortage, and look at how colleges and institutes must move from "best kept secret" to recognized top educational resource. CNC president John Bowman, in his promotional video welcome, said as regions and colleges experience enormous change within the global community, "these forests of change have opened a new frontier of innovation and ideas that have a tremendous effect, and provide inspiring opportunities for college and institutes today and into the future." He said the conference agenda is designed to challenge the norm, embrace innovation and inspire thinking. He added as colleges and institutes embrace challenge and share ideas, they do it with a sense of pride in the foundation they've established in the past. Panel discussions will look at post-secondary roles in economic futures, opportunities for disadvantaged and low-skilled learners, innovation based commerce and student associations.
