PINE CENTREPINE CENTRE MALL
The Prince George Motorcycle Awareness Group will be holding its fourth annual Motorcycle Show and Shine Saturday at Pine Centre Mall. Chairman Bruce Barry said there are nine local motorcycle clubs participating in the event. "The purpose is to create awareness that bikes are back on the road," he said. The group has events planned for the entire day, but the show and shine will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. next to TD Canada Trust in the Pine Centre parking lot. There will be 12 categories of bikes on display. "We'd like to encourage the public to come and vote for their favourite bike," Barry said. All riders are welcome to register and display their bikes in the show. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. in the Pine Centre parking lot and goes until 1:30 p.m. There's a $10 fee for each bike. All proceeds will go to the Motorcycle Awareness Group. Bumper stickers will be handed out at the show and shine to help promote motorcycle awareness. "Look twice save a life. Motorcycles are everywhere," is the slogan printed on the stickers. Barry said drivers often look right at motorcyclists and don't recognize them as a motor vehicle. "They'll turn right out in front of us," he said. Before the show and shine, there will be a "biker blessing" given by the Canadian Motorcycle Association at 10:45 a.m. A "fallen rider ride" will begin shortly after at 11 a.m. The purpose of the ride is to commemorate "those who have been injured in a motorcycle accident," Barry said. A meet and greet dinner will be held at the College Heights Pub after the show at 5 p.m. and awards will be handed out to the category winners at 7 p.m.
