A Prince George taxi driver has been charged with attempted murder after an altercation with a pedestrian on Wednesday night. John Gordon Goudreau, 45, is charged with attempted murder, assault causing bodily harm, and aggravated assault. "Witnesses described a confrontation between a taxi driver and a pedestrian (in which it is alleged) the taxi driver attempted to deliberately hit the pedestrian on three occasions," said Prince George RCMP Staff Sgt. Tom Bethune. "Witnesses state the pedestrian approached the taxi driver who remained in the taxi, then observed the pedestrian fall to the ground with a serious throat injury." Bethune said an employee of the nearby needle exchange ran to give assistance to the fallen man, a 46-year-old who was taken to Prince George Regional Hospital. "The victim had been stabbed in the neck causing a potentially life-threatening injury," said RCMP Staff Sgt. Brad Anderson. A suspect was arrested about 30 minutes after the incident, near the corner of Third Avenue and George Street at about 9:20 p.m. After surgery, the victim was listed in stable condition in intensive care.
