Re: No mystery in missing women coverage (letter, May 13). The Citizens news article "Treeplanters join renewed search for Nicole Hoar" (May 9) primarily focused on Nicole was due to the fact that in 2002 when she went missing, hundreds of treeplanters stopped their work to look for Nicole (a fellow treeplanter). This time of the year hundreds of treeplanters come through our business, IRL Supplies Ltd., to buy planting gear. This prompted us to once again create an awareness in memory of all the missing women. We set up a hospitality table with food and drinks. We provided two brochures for the planters, one of Nicole with some personal data. And a second one clearly showing a map of B.C. with all of the missing women related to the Highway of Tears. Yes, it may appear that the coverage was all about Nicole; this was for good reason as many of the planters knew Nicole. I personally had the opportunity to speak to many of the planters and gave them the B.C. map brochure showing all the missing women, asking them to keep their eyes open for possible clues. Yet Mr. Buckman is right, that those who speak out the most get the media coverage. This has been brought home to me many times by the e-mails I receive from families pleading to include their sons, daughters or their spouses on my websites, Highway of Tears" and "I am Missing. When a person is reported missing they are posted to the websites as quickly as possible and e-mailed to about 500 contacts and more than 100 news media. If anyone would like to be added to the I am Missing e-mail list, please e-mail
