EDMONTON - Edmonton police Chief Mike Boyd says he's putting people on notice that the city won't tolerate anyone swarming or mugging officers.

Visibly upset, Boyd showed off a ripped jacket that was worn by one of two officers who were attacked over the weekend by a swarm of people outside a downtown nightclub.

He says another officer was attacked by a group Monday afternoon outside a school, and wound up unconscious on the ground.

He was treated for a concussion and severe bruising to his face.

Two young men and one woman have been arrested in that attack, while three others were charged with aggravated assault for the weekend scuffle.

Boyd says he is outraged by the attacks, and this new swarming attitude will be dealt with through the fullest force of the law.
