Elections B.C. has launched a search for an has issued a call for district electoral officer and a deputy district electoral officer to work in Nechako Lakes during the next provincial election. The openings come as a result of the increase to 85 from 79 electoral districts heading into the May 12, 2009 election, and they'll appeal to retired or semi-retired individuals who have management or leadership experience, said B.C. Elections human resources manager Adia Kapoor. Having people from area communities ensures Elections BC takes advantage of local knowledge during important electoral events, Kapoor added. Training for elections staff has started so we are very eager to ensure the positions in the Nechako Lake electoral district are staffed as quickly as possible. They receive, check and acknowledge receipt of nomination papers and arrange for the printing of voters lists and ballots. Elections BC provides remuneration for these opportunities.
