KAMLOOPS , B.C. - A Kamloops man has been acquitted of sexually assaulting a young disabled woman.
Provincial Court judge Hermann Rohrmoser found the man, whose name is protected by a publication ban, not guilty of one count of sexual assault Rohrmoser cited inconsistencies in testimony, including statements made by the alleged victim that appeared to contradict evidence of rough sex.
During trial, the now 19 year old woman told the court the accused, decades older than her, entered her bedroom one morning in December 2005 while his wife was away and assaulted her.
She was 16 at the time and the alleged incident occurred at the home of close family friends in Kamloops.
The accused had known the alleged victim since she was 18 months old.
