On behalf of Gymnastics B.C., I want to take this opportunity to thank the Prince George Gymnastics Club for leadership in hosting the 2008 Western Canadian Championships last weekend. The club, volunteers and community really stepped up and provided for a high level gymnastics competition and hosting experience for our developing out-of-province participants. The Northern Sport Centre was also an amazing venue which will only offer a greater number of hosting opportunities.
The passion and commitment that the local organizing committee demonstrated in hosting this event was outstanding.
Our sincere thanks to the board of directors of Prince George Gymnastics, to the many volunteers, sponsors and supporters who were part of the team that contributed to the organization of the event.
Taking events such as Westerns outside of the traditional hosting setting of the Lower Mainland to communities across B.C. is a priority for Gymnastics B.C. to assist in the development of our sport across the province.
Prince George continues to be a great hosting community for showcasing gymnastics. We look forward to future hosting opportunities as we continue our commitment to bringing higher level competitions outside of the Lower Mainland.
