City hall issued 59 building permits for $7 million worth of projects in April according to a monthly update.
That's down from $11 million on 74 permts over the same period last year while year to and those for sewer by 2.25 per cent date 177 permits for $26.8 million have been issued so far in 2008, compared to 192 permits for $26.8 million by the same point last year.
A permit for $1.2 million worth of interior renovations to the new Tony Roma's in the old Foodteller at Fifth and George was the most significant one issued in April.
On the home-building front, 20 permits for $4.7 million worth of single family homes were issued, down from 74 permits for $11.1 million over April 2007. The year-to-date total stands at 39 permits for $9.2 million, compared to 75 permits for $16.6 million by the end of April last year.
