BRAYDEN PENNERPRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS
Parents of Prince George Spruce Kings players have been drawn into the teams investigation of Kings head coach and general manager Ed Dempsey, a team official said Thursday. The inquiry was prompted by complaints about Dempseys coaching methods brought to the clubs attention by former Kings captains Brayden Penner and Ryan deVries, so far the only players confirmed to have come forward with their concerns. I think its still just the two, but there have been a couple parents (of players) who have contacted the club, said Kings secretary Kurtis Taylor. Other than that, nothing has really changed. Nothing has come to a head yet. Its early yet, but were hoping to sometime, maybe on Saturday, sit down and have a conference call with some of the players who have contacted the club. Taylor said Kings president Darcy Buryn and team director Craig McPherson were out of town and have been unavailable to the B.C. Hockey League team since the club announced it would be investigating Dempsey as a result of an emergency team meeting a week ago. We are going to have the investigation, its just a matter of getting everybodys ducks in a row, Taylor said. Any time something like this comes to our attention, we have to do something about it.
