CIVIC CENTRE
More than 250 local politicians from across northern B.C. are expected to attend when the North Central Municipal Association's annual general meeting is held in Prince George this week. It starts today with a golf tournament and reception while the workshops and business sessions are held Thursday and Friday at the Civic Centre. Delegates will attend workshops and debate resolutions on such issues as as energy, environment, finance, health, justice and protective services, legislative, social issue, and transportation. Perhaps the biggest issue will province's carbon tax as seven resolutions have been submitted calling for a break on the tax for northern B.C. NDP leader Carole James will be among the speakers, as will Roberta Jamieson, chief executive officer of the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation. The NCMA represents local governments from 100 Mile House to the Yukon border.
