The Prince George Senior Secondary school drama club will take audiences back more than 300 years during its presentation of The Crucible, based on a true story of false accusations, witchcraft, greed, lust and an unbending system of power. The Arthur Miller play is set against the backdrop of the mad witch hunts in Salem, Massachusetts, in the late 17th century. The situation is introduced at the beginning of the play when the community learns that some girls have been practicing witchcraft in the forest. The initial incident is the actual accusing of the women of witchcraft by the several girls that were in the forest. This gets the plot moving, and everything rolls downhill from there with the townspeople reaching a complete frenzy. The performance will be held in Vanier Hall at 7 p.m. April 23 to 26 and two matinees are offered at 11 a.m. April 24 and 25. Tickets are $10. Target audience for this production, where strong language is used, is senior high school to adults. It is not suitable for younger audiences.
