I am a homeowner and resident of the Victoria & Oak Street Neighbourhood and am deeply concerned about the amount of garbage and drug parafanilia I have found in our community. Now that the snow has started to melt I find countless needles and drug garbage everyday as I walk my dog. I decided that instead of always complaining and taking the "someone else will deal with it" attitude, Ive decided to do something about it. I plan on writing the city, the local papers, the police to see if there is something that we can do as concerned residents. The city doesnt seem to care about what is going on in this part of the city, there are no garbage cans along the trails, no one from the parks board cleans the trails. I hope to get donations of garbage bags, gloves, garbage collecting tools and sharps boxes so that any volunteers that want to partake in donating their time to help clean up our neighbourhood will be armed and ready. If anyone is interested in spending a couple hours every second Sunday to walk the trails and collect garbage please contact T.J. @

The bushes on both sides of the trail (as it passes through the VLA) are crash-pads for everything from winos to hookers-without-a-home. It is an open sore. The trail should be decomissioned, the canal covered and the entire idea should go back in the filing cabinet.
