Richard Dawkins Print E-mail
Written by Guyle Nunweiler

I notice that Richard Dawkins, world famous God hater, is coming to Vancouver.  For $500 a person, $750 a couple, or $5,000 a table (of ten) people can hear him rail against God and the Bible.  Mr. Dawkins is the author of the book, The God Delusion.  He will be speaking on Evolution and Religion at The Four Seasons Hotel.

I think the predominant religion of British Columbia is no longer Christianity or the Judeo-Christian religion for that matter.  It is a Pantheistic religion of nature with humanism as its driver and evolution as its foundation.  Evolution is not a tenable scientific theory and goes against the Bible.  I am a young earth creationist and the Bible is supported by science.  The prevalent view in public universities is that science can only entertain a naturalistic worldview and I contend this is wrong because nature's beginning is untenable within purely naturalistic boundaries.  There can be no origin to a universe that somehow occurs by accident.

There seems to be no end to the insanity coming out of British Columbia, once a world leader on the international scene.  It makes me cringe to see Gordon Campbell and/or one of his government representatives waltzing around with the Dalai Lama but you never see our Premier hosting a Christian leader like David Mainse, Dr. Brian C. Stiller, James Dobson, or Franklin Graham. Our province is literally going to hell with no moral compass.  Increasing crime rates, and rapidly declining birth rates will soon create a major recession in our province.  MacLeans magazine just announced four of the top ten crime cities in Canada are in British Columbia.  Abortion is taking a heavy toll on our provinces birth rate as well as a heavy psychological cost on our young people.  At least our province is not leading Canada on that one, Quebec is at 30%.  The fruits of our ever-increasing godless society are manifold.

I am surprised that The Fraser Institute is one of the sponsors of this event.  I thought it was mainly the left that sponsored these kinds of events but I guess I am wrong.  I am not the only Christian in BC that will be taking note of all the sponsors of this event and you can be sure many will be doing their best to not support them.  The event is officially called an Illuminismo Conversation Series and Inwest Investment Limited is one of the sponsors as well as The Vancouver Sun.

Hmmm .... I would attribute BC's high rate of crime to ... well, drugs, mostly.

Perhaps the world is simply awakening from the judeo-christian dream, and moving forward from the age of superstition to the age of realism/cynicism/skepticism.

Perhaps BC doesn't need sermons from Americans speaking gospel ... every city, town and village has churches with congregations every Sunday. Still pretty commonplace, y'know.

So what makes your perspective that much better, Guyle Nunweiler? Heaven forbid anybody should question a tome written two thousand years ago, eh? Heaven forbid sexually abused young choir boys, or young native children in residential schools, should ever question the motives of the "servants of GOD" who were fondling and sodomizing them! Heaven forbid we should ever seek life-saving help from the scientific medical community...just let good ol' GOD save ya!

As far as I can tell, the only difference between you and Richard Dawkins is that I get to hear you "railing on against" opposing views for FREE. So there's a savings there, I suppose. Good luck with your boycotts.

I'm beginning to wonder if Guyle Nunweiler, Saved and Julia Serup are all one in the same. They seem to repeat each other word for word. I guess it is because they all got brainwashed by the same teacher.

those darn Christians
written by Saved , March 14, 2008 (10:21:50 AM)
Christianity has been a friend of medical advancement. Evolutionary philosophy gave medical science the "fact" of vestigial organs being unnecessarily amputated i.e. tonsils. Please tell me how someone like a surgeon has a handicap to modern medicine because he is a Christian. Are you kicking (kidding) me?

Biblical philosophy of the Reformation created a stable society that could do commerce and invest capital. The city of Florence with its beautiful art and banking system is a product of Christianity and the Reformation. Christian monks in cloistered communities played a part in promoting agriculture and trade in Western Europe that influenced society and culture to have stable political entities in a climate of peace. Christianity causes peace because its founder is the Prince of Peace, Jesus. The bloodless revolution
of Christianity has swept the world and is now stronger in the third world than the “first world” i.e. African Anglican bishops (“missionaries”) coming to North America to a church that is loosing its way.

The overdone slamming of Christians at fault in residential schools and the crusades is prejudice to the extreme. Many native people are thankful and appreciative of the residential schools giving their children a chance to read and write and excel in modern society but you sure don't hear about that in the MSM! I have a friend who has adopted native kids (his wife is part native). He is my source on this one. Nero burned Rome and blamed the Christians. Those darn Christians are at it again!!!!!

Christians are not perfect, only forgiven. Churches are not havens for saints but hospital for sinners. It is interesting those critics of Christianity either say Christians are either goody two shoes or evil monsters, but seldom anything in between. Ya think they might have an agenda?

I am Saved

I am Saved.
-Guyle Nunweiler

There was no intent on my part to use two names in my postings. The Citizen did it. Originally this website had its users register with a user name and password and their real name. For many months all my posts and comments were with my real name and then one day it changed and I was not made aware of it. I assume it was the same with all other users of this website too. After that my comments in the news section suddenly were attributed to my user name, Saved. The Blog section of this site continued to use my real name. There was no intention of deception on my part. I plead innocent but somehow methinks you may not be convinced. Walter Beardwood, the Citizen website techy guy could probably confirm this series of events on this website. I think the reason The Citizen started using the User handle is because people would not fill in their real name on the registration but put in an anonymous (“user”) name instead (twice).

Julia Serup and I are both members of The Creation Science Association of Prince George. We will probably be having another Creation Science speaker at UNBC in late September. The public and are welcome to attend and new members can fill out their application then. I consider it an honour to be associated with her. We welcome new members. Previous speakers have been Dr. John Byl, a mathematician from Trinity Western University (TWU) in 2006. He spoke on what constitutes a theory. Dr. Larry Vardiman, an Astrophysicist and geophysicist from the USA and a member of the Rate Project research team with Institute for Creation Research (ICR). He spoke last year on the Biblical Ice Age.

OH my GOD!!!
written by Haley , March 21, 2008 (07:59:10 AM)
why are people so damn narrow minded!!! everyone is entitled to there own oppinion, if sumone wants to get ripped off going to sum dumb thing like that let that be their decision!! this isnt a classified ad so ppl shouldnt be advertising their religions here either!! the point of all this religion is FAITH wether it be in god or your own self , we are all gonna die and where we go depends on what we believe, please dont believe what other people are preaching just follow your heart and try as hard as you can to be open minded, if youre the type of person who needs religion in there life dont push it on other people, keep it to yourself, wether youre jehova, catholic, scientologist,or sadist, let people think what they want and stop putting a negative spin on everthing.for the record every religion has something good about it but its how you take that message that makes it good dont blame other PEOPLES mistakes on god like i said we all make our own choices, remem ber people are evil . and if youre gonna worship in my opinion why the hell would you worship a religion that is only a few thousand years old why believe sum of the dumb crap that they got out there?? i think budhism is probably one of the better ones at least youre on the path to enlitenment. and everyone has the oppertunity to worship and have a merry christmas too.

Hayley go back to school. Your text-speak is incoherent and makes your entire argument sound like the rant of a valley-girl on redbull.

i like the idea of a 'god' but not the faithfull ask no questions aproach.. i personally beleive that if someone has enough Faith that what they are doing in life is as good as they can do that nobody can really ask more...and if your going to beleive in something no matter what it is that you should beleive completely yet not try to force others with a different belief to succumb to your ideas...

variety is the spice of life (not sure who said it) and i think its true..if we all thought the same how much fun would that be

moral equivalency
written by Saved , March 25, 2008 (07:55:14 PM)
I ask you, can one religion be true and one religion be false? If not, how can you determine what is "good"? To be as good as you can be or, as pgboy says, "what they are doing in life is as good as they can do", surely requires that one know what is good; otherwise one is shooting at, not only a moving, but also a blurred target.
