Scientists rely on data and evidence as the only basis for their conclusions, and they must leave a clear path so other people can follow them up and replicate their research. But scientists are human, too, with all the same strengths and weaknesses of the rest of us, and they will sometimes distort their work for political purposes.Dr. Michael Mann did a study on climate variations over the past 1,000 years to provide evidence for the IPCC, but the results weren’t what he expected or wanted so he tweaked his software program and added corrupted data. The result was the infamous hockey stick graph. This was immediately accepted by the IPCC as verification of its doomsday scenario.Stephen McIntyre noticed that the graph didn’t show documented historical climate variations, so he asked Mann for his data to examine, and was refused. After considerable detective work, McIntyre was able to find the info and quickly found the program glitch and false data and found that it would reveal that shape even on random numbers. Out of all the researchers in this field who had a responsibility to do due diligence before accepting the data, apparently none of them had done it.McIntyre exposed Mann's work as fraud and made all his work transparent to the world -- anyone is free to check his data. Mann is still hiding, denying, attacking -- but not providing the full information. You still have to do detective work to ferret it out. This is well known to the scientific community and should be to the press as well, yet Mann's work is still part of the IPCC and McIntyre is ignored. This is political bias.Scientists can be just as political and biased as anyone and we should always keep that in mind. Scientists who participated in “The Great Global Warming Swindle” have recently been described as denying climate change and trying to discredit all climate change science. Not true. They insisted that global climate is changing, always has changed, always will, and they back it up using climate science. Some scientists back Al Gore, when he compares data of temperatures with CO2 levels over 400,000 years, but ignores that CO2 fluctuations followed temperature flux by 800 years. Currently CO2 levels are increasing and sure enough, 800 years ago the temperature was much warmer. For more info, watch “Global Warming – Doomsday Called off” (YouTube).-- Art BetkePrince George
